CYBNEWS

Cybnews Instructions

When you want to set up a CybNews page contact us and we will create an account with a username and password for you. You let us know which layouts you are interested in and how many stories per page you want and we will then match the fonts and colour scheme to your existing website. Regardless of where your website is hosted it will still work, it will just need the link to the page. Once the page is set up it is ready for you to add the news articles.

Go to www.cybnews.co.uk/admin/login.php to login to your account, you will have been given these for your account.

When you have the account page open there are five menu items,
Home
: which is the introduction page you are on.
My Details: which allows you to change your password.
My News: which lists the news stories which you have already added. More details below.
Add News: new stories of course, more details below, and
Logout: for when you have finished.

Add News

To add a new story click on the Add News button. Enter a Title for the news item, this is what will be at the top of the Story and identify the story on the My News list.
Type the content of the story in the text box or you can copy and paste text in there.
It can include HTML code e.g. if you what to make a word bold then put <strong>Bold Words</strong> tags around them.

You will have decided on the choice of article layouts already when the account was set up and these be available from the drop down menu. To see what they look like click HERE
The choices are:

  • Text only
  • Single Image Aligned Left
  • Single Image Aligned Right
  • Single Image Aligned +Lightbox
  • Single Image Aligned + Lightbox
  • Triple Image Below Text
  • Triple Image Below Text + Lightbox

A Customised Template to suit your website more closely is also available. They can have Custom Fields added where specific items such as price or a reference number are required.

Once the title and text have been inserted you need to choose when you want the article to be displayed. You can select Display Now or set a specific date to begin and end the display. You can also select the Do Not Display if you want to suspend the appearance of an item rather than deleting it. Do Not Display is the default setting, so if your story does not appear, check this first.

If you select Do Not Display for all of your news items them it will only display what is on the template page (the title and logo) If you have no stories you may want to insert a holding story in to say something like 'No News at the Moment'.

A single image would be a normal size image on a page, the standard size is 150 pixels wide (but this can be altered). Where the Lightbox feature is included means when you click on the image a much larger image opens (standard size is 600 pixels wide, see the Demonstration page). The Triple Image Lightbox has the three images in one sequence so you click the image on the left or right side to view the next or previous image. To select the images click on the Browse button.

If the Lightbox feature is being used, select an image that is at least the size of the large version, the program automatically produces the thumbnail. Enlarging a small thumbnail creates a poor quality version of the image.

Once you have all the details ready click the Add Article button, it will say at the top of the page the Article was Added and the 'name of the photo'.jpg was uploaded successfully.

The number of news items per page can be decided by you, just let us know. Once the number of stories exceeds this figure you will see at the bottom of the page 'Viewing page 1 of 2' with 1 | 2 underneath it to navigate between the pages. This will increase as the number of stories increases.

Edit News

If you click the My News button at the top of the page you will see your new article listed on the page. Click on the Edit link on the right hand end of that story. You will now see the Edit News page with the title, text and image appearing. If you selected Display Now it will show the current date. You can make changes to the title, text or choose a different picture by browsing the same way as before and then click Update Article at the bottom of the page. It will confirm that the article has been updated at the top of the page.

View the Page

Your page will be at www.cybnews.co.uk/pages/your-account-name unless you have a customised page where it can integrated into your website. (We will give you the specific address for this page.) When you make any changes to the stories and click the update button the changes are immediate so you won't see any difference to your page until you click the refresh button on the browser to see the effects.

If you any questions don't hesitate to contact us and ask.
